Cornerback Nearing Decision

There are not many music artists that have covered more cities in fewer days than Walner Belleus did the past few weeks. Nevertheless, his whirlwind of official visits has come to an end, and his verbal commitment could be fast approaching. DevilsDigest talked to the four-star prospect about his impending decision.

The 5-11 180 Dodge City (KS) Junior College standout visited the Sun Devils during the Arizona game. His host player was Riccardo Stewart. "They got a great academic support," the cornerback commented on his visit. "You know that if you ask for help, you'll get it. They have nice facilities. The weight room is great. I want to major in sports medicine, and all the classes are right there. The coaches are real cool."

When we asked him to evaluate his skills, he replied: "I can stick with anyone in the first ten yards, but I need to work on the deep routes." John Rossetti, Belleus' head coach tended to agree with that assessment. "He plays very well in the bump and run," said Rossetti. "He has good feet, excellent hips, very good ball skills. Teams don't throw at him a lot." The Dodge City head added that the cornerback was a unanimous All-Conference Selection.

Between November 21st and Dec. 6th, Belleus visited South Florida (the cornerback hails from Immokalee, FL) ASU, Iowa, and Illinois. Recently he dropped Kansas State from consideration. "All the schools are good," exclaimed Belleus. "It's really tiring taking all those visits. Now I just want to sit back and make my decision. I think I'll make my decision next week." Coach Rossetti added that he felt that ASU is a viable option for his cornerback, because of the climate and facilities.

Walner Belleus is a December graduate, which means that one lucky school will see him enroll in time for spring semester.
