ASU Gets Commitment From JC Defensive Tackle

Tonight, the Sun Devils received a verbal commitment from Quency Darley, a 6-3 277 defensive tackle from Kilgore (TX) junior college. In this exclusive and breaking news interview, Darley talks about the visits he received today from both Iowa and ASU, as well as the factors that led him to his decision.

"(ASU's defensive line) Coach Monachino came to visit me tonight," said Quency Darley. "We sat in the cafeteria having dinner. I told him about my commitment and he just jumped up with hands in the air and yelled 'yes'! People were looking at him all funny and stuff like that (smile)..."

"He told me that he now got the 'cream of the crop' of the defensive tackles," Darley continued. "He called all the coaches right away. He was very excited. It was cool to see that."

In previous interviews with DevilsDigest, Darley didn't hide his deep affinity to the ASU program. Tonight he reiterated those sentiments. "I just love everything about ASU," he said. "I loved hanging out with Jamar Williams on my visit. He and the other players treated me like one of them. That was a big factor in my decision. I also like the academics a lot."

Earlier today, the Iowa coaches paid the defensive tackle a visit. Darley didn't elaborate on what took place, but he only said: "They changed their tune from before, and I didn't like it. I told them that I was more comfortable with ASU. I know that was the right decision for me."

With depleted depth at defensive tackle, Darley's commitment gives ASU much needed boost in this dire area of need.
