Devils Routed Again by Cardinal

Another fast start by #2 Stanford allowed an early lead that #16 ASU was not able to come back in as the Sun Devils fell to the Cardinal for the second straight game, 10-3. ASU's record fell to 39-16 overall and 12-11 in Pac-10 play.

The Devils were able to hold a 2-1 lead for a half inning after Jeff Larish scored off of a foul ball to right field, and a Zechry Zinicola double allowed Josh Asanovich to cross the plate. But two four run innings in the second and fourth innings gave Stanford a 9-2 lead.

The lead was extended to 10-2 in the fifth inning, and ASU added their only other run in the eighth inning after Joe Persichina scored off of a Josh Asanovich sacrifice fly.

Starter Jason Urquidez (11-3) suffered only his third loss of the year after going just two and one third innings giving up five runs and six hits. Erik Averill was also tagged with five runs in his three and one third innings of work, while Pat Bresnehan did not allow a run in two and one third innings.

The final game of the regular season takes place Sunday afternoon at 1pm at the Sunken Diamond at Stanford.
