Newcomer Report

Through out the 2004 season, DevilsDigest will track the contributions of the team's first year players. The following are the newcomer's contributions in Arizona State's 27-14 win over Oregon State.

Offensively, true freshman starting H-back Zach Miller caught his third touchdown pass of the year, a 17-yard strike in the third quarter. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Rudy Burgess returned five punts for a total of 41 yards, with a tackle on special teams. Redshirt freshman center Mike Pollak once against started at the position, while redshirt freshmen TE/H-backs Kellen Mills and Brent Miller saw time on the offensive side of the ball. Redshirt freshman punter Chris MacDonald was once again solid with eight punts for an average of 47.5 yards, and a career high 61-yard boot.

On defense, junior starting linebacker Dale Robinson accumulated seven tackles, with one sack and a half tackle for loss. Junior safety Maurice London and redshirt freshman TE/H-back Tyrice Thompson had a tackle apiece. Also seeing time on defense were redshirt freshmen cornerbacks Littrele Jones and Chad Green, true freshman linebacker Antone Saulsberry, redshirt freshman linebacker DeAndre Johnson, redshirt freshman defensive tackle Brett Palmer, junior defensive lineman DeWayne Hollyfield, and junior defensive tackle Quency Darley.
