Newcomer Report

Through out the 2004 season, DevilsDigest will track the contributions of the team's first year players. The following are the newcomer's contributions in Arizona State's 28-13 win over Oregon.

On offense, Rudy Burgess scored his second touchdown on the season with a one-yard reception late in the fourth quarter. Burgess, in his newly acquired role as the third string running back had one run for a yard. He continued his special teams play with three punt returns for 36 yards, and two kickoff returns for 34 yards. True freshman TE/H-back Zach Miller had two catches for 38 yards. Also participating on offense were redshirt freshman center Mike Pollak, redshirt freshmen TE/H-backs Tyrice Thompson, Kellen Mills, and Brent Miller. True freshman TE Andrew Pettes saw action as well. Punter Chris MacDonald had another solid day, with five punts for an average of 37.8 yards, with three of those punts landing inside the 20-yard line.

Defensively, junior linebacker Dale Robinson contributed with six tackles. True freshman safety Rodney Cox, junior safety Maurice London, and true freshman linebacker Antone Saulsberry each had a stop apiece. Other Devils that saw playing time were redshirt freshmen cornerbacks Chad Green and Littrele Jones, redshirt freshman safety Josh Barrett, junior linebacker Nick Clapp, and redshirt freshman linebacker DeAndre Johnson.
