Newcomer Report

Through out the 2004 season, DevilsDigest will track the contributions of the team's first year players. The following are the newcomer's contributions in Arizona State's 34-27 loss to Arizona.

Offensively, redshirt freshman RB/WR Rudy Burgess ran the ball fives times for a total of 19 yards, while catching one pass for a gain of 10 yards. In his normal special teams duties, he returned one kick for a 27-yard gain. True freshman TE Zach Miller led the team with eight catches for 76 yards of total receiving. Redshirt freshman H-Back/TE Brent Miller caught one pass for 25 yards. Redshirt freshman punter Chris MacDonald punted the ball just two times on the afternoon, for an average of 46.5 yards. The only other Devil to see playing time on offense was redshirt freshman H-back/TE Tyrice Thompson.

On defense, junior LB Dale Robinson had another solid outing with seven total tackles. Redshirt freshman LB Robert James accumulated four total stops, including a sack that lead to a 7-yard loss. Other Devils seeing playing time on defense were junior safety Maurice London; redshirt freshmen CB Littrele Jones and Chad Green, true freshman LB Antone Saulsberry, junior DT Quency Darley, and junior LB Nick Clapp.
