Local Lineman Has Good Vibes Towards ASU

Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland's Richard Tuitu'u has been virtually a regular spectator at Sun Devil stadium this season. For obvious reasons, he claimed that last Saturday's game stood out above the rest.

"It was a great game," said the 6-5 310 Richard Tuitu'u. "Man, that was a blowout. It was great seeing all the seniors getting honored, the Pat Tillman ceremony, and then Tillman Sr. getting the game ball in the locker room."

Even though Tuitu'u is very familiar with the hometown team, he's feeling more and more comfortable each time he's in Tempe. "The vibes I'm getting about ASU are stronger and stronger each week. I'm really getting to know coach Meyers (ASU's OL coach) and the players, and I get along with them."

Gilbert Highland has been one of the biggest surprises on the Arizona prep scene, and continued their magical season with a late fourth quarter comeback to win at Mesa Westwood 17-14 in the state's 5A playoffs. "We got down on ourselves after we lost the first two games," Tuitu'u said. "But after that we got on a roll. I guess even we're surprised at how well we're doing now."

The lineman maintained all season that he won't schedule visits until his team ends their playoff run. "Hopefully that won't be until the begining of December," he said referring to the weekend of the 5A championships. When he does schedule his trips, who besides ASU is likely to get an official visit? "Cal, and Utah. But maybe they'll be other schools."
