Four Star Linebacker to Visit ASU

Arnaldo 'Mickey' Pimentel has made a soft verbal commitment to Cal last week. Nevertheless, he will end his official visit circuit in Tempe this weekend. Devils Digest talked to the Pima College linebacker about his trip.

"Arizona State has been recruiting me all season," said Pimentel who attended San Diego's Marian Catholic high school. "Coach Fidler is the coach that's recruiting me. They offered me a month and half ago." Cal, Michigan State, Tennessee, Oregon State are some of the other schools that have extended him a scholarship offer. The linebacker mentioned that nearby University of Arizona did rescind their scholarship offer to him.

Pimentel, who stands 6-1.5 220, naturally lists Cal among his favorite schools, along with ASU and Tennessee. "The people at Cal are very humble. I like the environment because I'm used to that being from California. Tennessee is too far away from home, so I don't think I'm gonna visit there."

The linebacker, named WSFL Defensive Player of the Year, lists his family as having the biggest influence on his decision, and case in point his mom will accompany him to Tempe this weekend. "My mom wants me to visit ASU, so we can make sure that Cal is the place for me," he said. "I don't want to look back two years from now and say that I should have gone somewhere else like ASU." And how did Cal react to his plans to trip to the Sun Devils? "They're kinda disappointed in me going, but this is a big decision in my life. I have to make sure I'm doing the right thing."
