Covina Tight End Commits to ASU

It was an agonizing decision, and Javon Williams admitted that he found more similarities than differences between Arizona State and Oregon, the school he just visited this past weekend. When it was all said and done, he did decide about an hour ago that Tempe is the place where he wants to spend his college years.

"I like both schools and I can't say I like one more than I like the other," said Javon Williams. "That's how much I like them. So I had to break it down to where I want to live the next 4-5 years of my life, an it came down to wanting to live more in Arizona than Oregon."

Offensive scheme is another aspect that did sway Williams towards the maroon and gold. "I know both schools run the same offenses," he said, "with coach Koetter coaching under coach Bellotti. But ASU gives the ball to the tight end more, they play two tight ends, and I know I can make a bigger impact there."

The tight end broke the news to his future position coach Tom Osborne. "He was hollering and screaming on the phone (smile)," said Williams. "I called coach Koetter after that. They both welcomes me to the family." Williams did assure that his commitment is "solid."
