Third baseman Travis Buck was sizzling at the plate as he went 4-6, with a couple of triples. He scored four runs and brought in four runners. The two triples were a career high for the junior. Fellow infielder and ASU slugger, first baseman Jeff Larish, was just as impressive with his two home runs. The senior had also a game high five RBI's. Rocky Laguna continued his fine performance here in the Bayou going 3-4. Designated hitter Zechry Zinicola was 2-3 on the day as he recorded his inaugural home run of the season.
The Sun Devil hurlers were naturally masterful on Saturday afternoon. Junior Erik Averill (4-2) gave up only one run, the Leatherneck's only run of the day, on seven hits in five innings. He had four strikeouts in his fourth win of the season. Freshman Seth Garrison notched his first save in 2005, giving up one hit, while fanning five players in four frames of work.
ASU will end their weekend at Alex Box stadium in a doubleheader. At Noon MT they will meet Western Illinois once again, before matching up with host school LSU at 4 p.m MT.
