California Safety Favors Sun Devils

Older brother Chris may be playing for USC, but the Chino (Calif.) safety has his sights set on another Pac-10 school.

"Arizona State is number one on my list," said the 6-1 190 Ryan McFoy. "I like (tight ends and special teams) Coach Osborn and coach Koetter. They have a good squad and they're a top 25 program. I saw their Sun Bowl game and I was impressed."

McFoy is being recruited as safety. In his junior campaign he collected 70 tackles, and is considered a talented but raw player. "I need to improve my speed and footwork," he said as he self-assessed his attributes. "My strongest skill is knowing where the ball is and getting there quickly."

The safety was offered by ASU this past March, who along with Boise State, Colorado State, and Utah represent all the offers he has to date. By his own admission, his 2.4 GPA and a few make-up classes to be taken, have prevented him from garnering more interest at this time.

Nonetheless, the Devils do lead for his services and if he had his way he would have already gave them his oral commitment. "I didn't visit ASU unofficially," he said. "The plan is to visit them officially during the USC game. My parents wanted me to take the trip before I commit. I would have already commit to ASU if it was only up to me."
