Sun Devil Fans Flock to Fan Photo Day

The general pre-season buzz over the Arizona State Football team was quite evident during Fan Photo Day Saturday morning. Thousands of maroon and gold followers filled the concourse at Wells Fargo Arena as Dirk Koetter and his squad greeted the Sun Devil fans seeking autographs and pictures.

The lines were perhaps longer near the tables where the offense sat, but this is not to say that the defensive players felt left out. Newcomer defensive end Will Kofe was overwhelmed. "I can't believe how many people showed up," he said. "And they all know my name too (laughs)." The ASU players were cordial, and especially gave the younger fans a lot of attention and probably memories of a lifetime.

Fans attending the event were expecting big things from their Sun Devils in 2005. Brian from Gilbert sees a repeat performance from last year. "I think they can win eight games (during the regular season)," he said. "A lot of people talk about LSU and I think they have a good chance of winning that game. I don't want to sound like a homer like everyone in this building right now (smile), but I think they have a good shot. I wonder how the defense will do under Bill Miller, but I think we're gonna score a lot of points and Sam Keller will be just fine at quarterback."

Travis from Gilbert believes ASU will do slightly better than the 2004 campaign. "I think they'll go 9-2," he said, "We'll have a win a against LSU or USC. The defense is gonna be real exciting under Bill Miller. We're a little short on the defensive line, but guys are ready to step up. This defense will surprise a lot of people. I was worried about running back but when I came up to camp T and I saw Rudy Burgess and Keegan Herring, I know we'll be fine. We're so deep at wide receiver and tight end…teams would pay to have that depth."
