Fairfield Linebacker Commits to Sun Devils

Arizona State has been leading for the services of Jamarr Robinson for several months now. The Fairfield (Calif.) visited Tempe a couple of weeks ago, and to say that the trip only strengthened his feelings would be an understatement. He told Devils Digest that he almost pulled the trigger during his visit, but ultimately he waited and did so last night.

"I was talking to my coaches, and my mom before I committed," said the 6-3 240 Jamarr Robinson. "I just felt that ASU had the best all-around situation. My mom coming with me on my ASU visit made a big difference, because she got to see the academic side and how things are away from football."

Robinson made the call to Arizona State's quarterbacks coach, Mark Helfrich, who has been recruiting him. While Helfrich was elated, it was nothing compared to the Sun Devils' defensive coordinator, Bill Miller. "Yeah, he was real excited (laughs). He was telling me how he plans to use my skills at linebacker. That was cool to hear. We're both anxious to get this thing started."

Robinson is the fifth verbal commitment for Arizona State's 2006 class.
