Newcomer Report

In his third career start, quarterback Rudy Carpenter led the Arizona State offense to a 515 total yard output. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to put the Sun Devils over the top against UCLA in a game dominated by offense. Carpenter had a nice outing, completing 27 of his 37 attempts. The redshirt freshman finished the day with 334 yards in the air and 3 touchdowns.

Freshman running back Keegan Herring had his best effort since the month of September. Herring's number was called 27 times and the Valley resident picked up a total of 137 yards and one score. Herring consistently moved the chains all day long. Redshirt freshman receiver Michael   Jones saw the most action yet in his young career as a Sun Devil. With a couple of veterans out with injuries, the Texas product made the most of his opportunity with three catches for 16 yards.

Zach Catanese continues to be one of the defense's top performers alongside linebacker Dale Robinson. In a rather unforgettable day for the Devil defense all-around, the safety racked up ten tackles. Middle linebacker Beau Manutai had a couple of bright moments and was in on the most plays he's been all year. The junior was the team's third leading tackler with seven. Cornerback Keno Walter-White had four tackles while defensive end Will Kofe finished the night with one stop.

Linebacker Adam Vincent, safety Derron Ware, and defensive tackle Shannon Jones all played but did not record any tackles.
