Defensive Tackle Had ‘Amazing' Visit to Tempe

The sunny blue skies and palm trees reminded him a little of Davie, Fla. and everything else concerning Jared Martin's official visit was just as bright. The Western High School standout talked to Devils Digest following his excursion to the valley.

"It was amazing, I loved it," said the 6-1 292 Jared Martin. "I really didn't think I would like the desert that much, but it stuck to me. It was real nice there. Kind of like Florida with a lot less rain (smile). I liked the atmosphere of the team too. I got to hang out with my host Tranell Morant and some other players. He told me how it was coming to ASU from Florida and what it was like. I talked to a lot of the coaches, and got a tour of campus."

Martin admitted that he had a pre-convinced notion of Arizona State, and that that image did take a turn for the positive following his trip. "I was totally taken off-guard," he remarked. "The stadium, the locker room, the team…I really like Coach House the strength coach, and what he had to offer."

Despite the enjoyable weekend, the defensive tackle isn't close to a decision, and expects one not before the end of December. "I just have one more visit to take and I want to keep my options open," he explained. "I'm gonna visit Minnesota (on Dec. 2nd), and I'm undecided about taking a visit after that. If I do take another visit, it will be between Purdue, Rutgers and Northwestern."
