Quarterback Rudy Carpenter battled illness led the comeback victory over archrival Arizona on Friday. The freshman was 18 of 37 and finished the day with 246 yards in the air. Running back Keegan Herring also took the field in his first Territorial Cup game and ran for 23 yards on seven carries. Despite the low yardage, he set the school record for most yards by a first-year running back.
After a solid game against UCLA, JC transfer Beau Manutai had his best game of the season, perhaps giving fans some hope for the middle linebacker position in 2006. The junior had nine tackles, 1.5 of which were for a loss. Safety Zach Catanese lead the Sun Devil defense in tackles with 11.
Defensive end Will Kofe notched a solo stop and one tackle for a loss. Cornerback Keno Walter-White didn't finish with anything that showed up in the stat department but was applauded by junior kick returner Terry Richardson for springing a key block on his momentum changing return for a touchdown in the 4th quarter that tied the game.
