Munns Commits to Hometown Sun Devils

When you dream is to play for a certain school, a scholarship from that program is usually followed fairly quickly with a verbal commitment. Gerald Munns, the Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) standout, received his scholarship offer last Sunday. Exactly one week later, at the end of his official visit to Tempe, he made the widely anticipated decision.

"It was great, I love Arizona State," said the 6-3 230 Gerald Munns. "The players were great, the coaches were awesome, they treated us like kings…so I just made the decision to commit to Arizona State." The linebacker confirmed that Utah has been heavily pursuing him, but his mind is made up. "I will cancel my trip there now that I'm committed."

As a local player, Munns was naturally familiar with the Sun Devils, and their facilities. This past weekend, he did enjoy some other aspects of the University that he didn't get to experience in the past. "I've seen the weight room and stadium before, " he commented. "But this was first time I got to see the dorm rooms, practice facility, training table, all that good stuff (smile)." Munns' host was another former local prep star, tight end Zach Miller.

Munns is considered the best linebacker in the Grand Canyon State, and is another addition to an ASU 2006 recruiting class which features some of the best high school players in the Metro Phoenix area.
