DL De-Commits from OSU, Signs LOI with ASU

The hiring of Foothill's Junior College Defensive Coordinator, Josh Brown, as the new Graduate Assistant for ASU's football team went largely under the radar. However, today there is 6-4 265 ripple effect that is being felt in Tempe as a result. Alex Fa'agai, a one time Oregon State commitment, has followed his coach to the Sun Devils and has signed his Letter of Intent today with the maroon and gold.

"That was a tight visit," said defensive lineman Alex Fa'agai who tripped to Tempe this past weekend. "I liked everything – the coaches, the players, the facilities, academic advisors…it was all great. The chemistry of the team…it's all there." Fa'agai was hosted by ASU defensive lineman Will Kofe.

The defensive lineman collected ten sacks and 50 tackles before a knee injury in week seven sidelined him for the rest of the season. "I'm still injured and I need just to get my feet back," commented Fa'agai. "I'm gonna probably use my redshirt just to get my speed back, get stronger and bigger, and catch up to the level of Division I football. I'm gonna bust my butt in rehab, and if everything falls into place in the fall then I'll play this year. If not, I'll just get ready for next year. It's all up to my knee."

Fa'agai attended Independence High School in San Jose where was the league's Most Valuable Defensive Player and team captain his senior year. He was also an all-league selection in both his junior and sophomore years. He was originally scheduled to sign an LOI in the winter and enroll with the Beavers in the spring.
