The tenth ranked Devils (5-2) struggled in all aspects of the game last night. On the mound freshman pitcher Ike Davis lasted just two innings, giving up six runs on four hits and three walks. Davis (1-2) didn't get much help from the defense, as they committed three errors on the night including two costly errors in the third inning in which the Bulldogs (4-1) scored seven runs.
At the plate the Devils were just as bad. The Devils managed just one run on nine hits. Gonzaga starter, Patrick Donovan (1-0), pitched six solid innings allowing the lone run on six hits. The Bulldog bullpen cruised through the final three innings to preserve their fourth win of the season.
The Devils will look to rebound today, as they play the second ranked Oregon State Beavers. Junior right-hander Pat Bresnehan will get the start against the Beavers. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Beavers won the first game of the Fourth Annual Coca-Cola Classic yesterday as they defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack 12-4.
