Duke's Boateng to Visit Sun Devils

Eric Boateng, a 6-10 255 freshman center from Duke, has decided to leave the Blue Devils. This weekend Tempe will be the first stop for the McDonald's All-American, as he starts to consider which school he will call his new home.

Eric Boateng, a London, England native grew up playing soccer. However, once he started dabbling with basketball, he realized that this sport was his strength. The center was a standout at St. Andrews High School in Middletown, Del., where he was named Gatorade State Player of the Year as a senior, and second team All-State as a junior. His senior year accomplishments of 21 points per game, 16 rebounds per game, and four block shots per game, landed him on the prestigious McDonald's All-American team.

Boateng, averaged 2.5 minutes a game for the Blue Devils last season. Following his transfer, he will likely have to sit out the 2006-07 season. The center chose to attend Duke over schools such as UCLA, Georgetown, Villanova, and Boston College. Arizona State Basketball Head Coach Herb Sendek and his staff, are naturally familiar with the center from their North Carolina State days.

Devils Digest will bring you post-visit reaction from Boateng this weekend.
