Colorado, among others, was also interested in recruiting Dewitty to play football for them, but ultimately he chose to represent the Sun Devils. "With ASU it just felt like it was the place for me," says Dewitty. "But, I'm really looking forward to going back home to Colorado. I have a lot of friends coming to the game"
With just one season under his belt, Dewitty is still constantly contributing with his skills at running back, behind teammate and fellow sophomore Keegan Herring. However, Dewitty is often considered to be ASU's top pass blocker. Though there is competition between Dewitty and Herring, Dewitty noted, "There's competition between all five of the running backs. We all practice and do the best we can to help the team win."
Like any athlete, Dewitty always wants to improve as a player and agrees that practice and experience on the field are key elements to accomplishing this goal. "I played mostly specials team last year and it got me game experience and helped me a little bit . . . [Now] I'm trying to improve my pass blocking and reading my blocks better."
Though in the last two games it has taken a lot of game time for the ASU's running attack to get into a good rhythm, Dewitty now assures us that the "whole line is blocking great." He added that they are working on making necessary adjustments to continue to challenge the defense. "We're going to try to get a faster start this weekend."
While Colorado will be an offensive challenge, Dewitty confidently exclaimed, "I expect them to play hard and play tough and we're up for the challenge."
