JC Linebacker Coming Home

Linebacker Morris Wooten from Glendale (Ariz.) Community College grew up an Arizona State fan. Up until recently, he wasn't receiving much interest from the Sun Devils, but all that changed in a hurry since newly appointed ASU coach Dennis Erickson arrived in Tempe. Now this once West Virginia bound player, looks to be donning the maroon and gold.

"I'm gonna sign with ASU on Wednesday," said Wooten to Devils Digest. "I went and saw the stadium and all the facilities and decided that I don't have to go across country to play football, when I can play here at home."

Wooten was born and raised in Phoenix, and attended Maryvale High School. He has been attending Sun Devil games at a very early age, mainly because of his cousin and ex-Sun Devil Mitchell Freedman. This season he attended the last two home games against Washington State and UCLA. "I always loved ASU," he remarked. "And I always wanted to go there."

In his sophomore year for the Gauchos, Wooten tallied 104 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles. "I'm a physical player, and I can move fast sideline to sideline," said the middle linebacker of his skills. "

Wooten attended Idaho State for one semester after graduating from Maryvale. Due to his redshirt season Idaho State, Wooten will have 2 to play 2.

Wooten is the first verbal commitment under Erickson.
