Reno Tight End Enjoys Tempe Visit

With players like Josh Barrett and Wes Evans, the Sun Devils have found success in finding players at Reno High School. Will Dan Knapp be the third player to find himself playing for the maroon and gold? Right now, things are looking promising in that area. Devils Digest talked to him following his trip this past weekend.

"I liked the visit," said the 6-5 235 Dan Knapp. "We had a very nice tour of the campus, and I had fun meeting all the coaches. It was also fun hanging out with Josh and Wes who I know from back home. It was cool asking them questions about the school and getting to learn about it."

In his senior year the tight end tallied 21 receptions for 295 yards and four touchdowns. "I'm a good blocker and receiver," he said of his skills. "I'm even in both those areas. I do need to improve on my route running." Knapp was selected first-team All-State, All-League and All-Region.

Knapp noted that Arizona State offered him a scholarship immediately after they saw his film, which was about two weeks ago. The tight end is also being pursued by Washington, Oregon State, Fresno State, Nevada and Boise State. Knapp already tripped to Washington, Fresno State and Nevada. He plans to take his last permitted official visit to Oregon State this upcoming weekend. "I don't plan to make my decision before my last visit," he claimed. "Right now Washington and ASU are my co-favorites."

The tight end who's academically qualified remarked that when it's time for him to settle on a college program, he's looking for "a home away from home…a place where I really get along with the coaches and players. It's gonna be a campus where I feel good at."
