Palelei Names Sun Devils His Leader

Devils Digest caught up with Po'u Palelei following his visit to Tempe, and by all accounts it was an enjoyable trip.

"It was a great visit," said the 6-5 315 Po'u Palelei of his official trip to Arizona State. "Coach Erickson and Coach Cozzetto were real cool. The stadium was amazing. My host was Thomas Altieri who was my teammate my freshman year. I was the most impressed by Jean Boyd and the academic staff – they're really cool."

"I love the relationship that the coaches have with their players," Palelei continued. "They're not loud, they're not grouchy…just cool guys. They've been together for a long time coaching and they have a lot of experience. I really like that ASU has a lot Polynesian players. They made me feel right at home."

The Bishop Gorman (Nev.) offensive lineman didn't commit, but made it clear who's the leader for his services. "Arizona State is my top school," he noted. "I'll make up my mind before signing day, but I'm only gonna announce on that day." The two aforementioned ASU coaches will be visiting Palelei on Wednesday, and the lineman believed that Washington, his other main suitor, has exhausted its allotment of in-home visits.

The U.S. Army All-American, who's ranked by as the ninth best offensive guard in the nation, said that he isn't qualified academically yet, but he's feels that he's in good shape to do so.
