Norco Linemen Pledge to Sun Devils

Package deal or no package deal, both Adam Tello and Garth Gerhart gave a verbal commitment to Arizona State earlier today. DevilsDigest spoke to the two following their decision.

"I made the decision around two hours ago (approximately 2 pm MT)," said the 6-4 290 Adam Tello. "I called (ASU OL Coach) Coach Smith. He was relived because I was waiting it out everyday for the last week. I was waiting just making sure that I was making the right choice. The process was pretty hard and there are so many schools that are calling you."

The offensive lineman has a three-star ranking and he's considered as the 35th best offensive guard in the country by Tello was once a soft commit to Colorado and chose ASU over Louisville. The Cougars were 12-2 on the year and won the C.I.F championship in their division.

Norco center Garth Gerhart has visited ASU, Colorado (who he initially committed to) and Hawaii at the same time Tello did, but dispelled any notion that he verbaled to the Sun Devils just because his line mate did the same. "I decided to verbal to ASU for my own reasons," said the 6-2 300 Garth Gerhart. "That's where I felt comfortable and that's where I liked it all-around. It was real hard to de-commit from Colorado because I did like them. I called the Colorado coach first around 1 (2 pm MT) and then I called ASU."

Gerhart, a three-star prospect rated by as the 7th best center in the nation, admitted that the whole process was a difficult one and was happy that it's coming to an end. "I was stressing out a lot. I just sat down with my parents (his father is the head coach at Norco), went over everything and did what I felt was right in my gut."

Both linemen become the 21st and the 22nd known commitments in ASU's 2007 recruiting class.
