Though the Trojans broke away early in the first half, just minutes later the Devils matched their points and took the lead by the completion of the first twenty minutes, 33-24.
Aubree Johnson led the way with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Danielle Orsillo with 11 points and Jill Noe and Briann January each grabbed 10.
While ASU continued to hit successful shots throughout the second half, the Trojans suffered on offense with over a four minute dry spell late in the game, just as they began to close in on the their opponent. In this time the Devils were able to score 11 points and widen the numbers on the boards once again.
However, the consistent fouls, committed by the Trojans, allowed ASU many easy free throws throughout the second half. With over 20 free throw attempts in the second half of the game, the Devils racked up 17 points.
Though USC was challenged this evening, Jamie Hagiya scored 15 points, while teammate Eshaya Murphy grabbed 10 points and 12 rebounds throughout the game.
With a mere 30% field goal accuracy and 25 turnovers, USC had a slim chance of taking tonight's win away from the Devils who hit 47% throughout the game.
Although ASU played well this evening, Emily Westerberg was missing from the line-up due to an ankle sprain in practice on Tuesday.
Next, ASU will face UCLA in Los Angeles this Sunday afternoon.
