Devils Tame Tigers on the Road

The tenth ranked Arizona State Sun Devils made a statement Friday night, as they took game one against #23 Auburn Tigers in Auburn, Alabama, by a score of 8-2. The Devils improved to 12-3 on the season with the win, and the loss was just the second of the year for the Tigers, who dropped to 11-2.

The Devils jumped out to an early 6-0 lead behind timely hitting, and the strong pitching performance of lefthander, Josh Satow. Satow was brilliant on the night, pitching seven scoreless innings for the Devils to pick up his fourth win of the year. Satow, allowed just five hits over that span, while striking out two.

Offensively, the Devils produced eight runs on 16 hits. Third baseman, Matt Hall, got the scoring started for the Devils with his two-run single in the second. Hall continued his hot play from earlier in the week, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI's. Shortstop, Andrew Romine, also had a big day for the Devils, scoring two runs and driving in two, while racking up three hits.

Brett Wallace, Eric Sogard, and Kiel Rolling, also recorded a multi-hit game, as all three had two hits apiece. Sogard also drove in two runs for the Devils.

The Devils will look to keep their six game winning streak alive on Saturday, as they battle it out with the Tigers in game two of the three game series. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
