The Devils received a strong performance from starting pitcher, Mike Leake, who threw a complete game. Leake improved his record to 7-1 on the season, after throwing nine innings in which he gave up eight hits, two earned runs, while striking out eight. The win was the third straight for the Devils, who improved their record to 24-10 on the year.
Offensively, the Devils managed just eight hits, with four of those coming off the bat of catcher, Kiel Rolling. Rolling finished a perfect 4-for-4 on the night, including a run and two RBI's. DH, Petey Paramore, was the only other Devil to record a multiple hit game, as he went 2-for-3 on the evening. The Devils were also aided by some Cardinal miscues, as the visitors committed four errors in the game.
The two teams will be back at it tomorrow, as they meet in game two of the series at Packard Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
