Devils Win See-Saw Battle

Friday was definitely good for the Pat Murphy and squad, as the 12th ranked Sun Devils picked up their fourth straight win by defeating the Stanford Cardinals 12-8. The Devils were in control for most of the game behind some timely hitting and some solid pitching by starter Josh Satow.

The Devils led 5-1 going into the seventh inning, and up until that point Satow looked great allowing just one run while striking out seven. However, the Cardinals were finally able to get to Satow in the seventh, scoring four runs to tie things up at five. Satow had to be relieved by Joey Parigi, who came in to get the Devils out of the jam. Parigi would pick up the win thanks in large part to a clutch pinch hit three-run double by C.J. Retherford in the bottom of the inning.

The Devils went on to score six runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a commanding 11-5 lead. The Cardinals made things somewhat interesting by scoring three runs in the eighth, but Jason Jarvis came into for Parigi to close the door on the Cardinals to pick up his third save of the year.

Offensively, the Devils pounded out 12 hits. Sophomores Brett Wallace and Petey Paramore led the Devils with three hits apiece. Wallace also added three RBI's, and his team high 12th homerun of the year. Paramore scored three runs for the Devils.

The Devils are now 25-10 on the year and 6-2 in the Pac-10. The two teams will close out the three-game series Saturday afternoon at Packard Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch. The game will be shown on FSN Arizona.
