Devils Hope For Repeat Success in the Bayou

While scouting 2007 recruiting class signee Jonathan English, the Sun Devils couldn't help noticing his talented John Curtis HS teammate cornerback Robby Green. ASU offered him a scholarship several weeks ago, and Green told Devils Digest that he isn't ruling out making the trek from River Ridge, LA this summer to check out the Tempe campus.

"Jonathan and I talk a lot about Arizona State," said the 6-1 180 Robby Green who just like English at the time, is being recruited by ASU's defensive line coach Grady Stretz. "We work out together so we see each other a lot, and he talks about how good the environment is down there, how cool the players and coaches are, and how excited he is to get down there this year."

"I'm either gonna go to their camp there in June or go for an unofficial visit. I haven't decided yet what I'm gonna do. I'm planning to visit USC and maybe check out Arizona State on the way back. Alabama and LSU are others schools I plan to visit unofficially."

Prior to ASU, many teams in the SEC such as Florida, LSU, Alabama offered the cornerback, along with USC, West Virginia and Oklahoma State to name a few. "Recruiting has been crazy but I'm enjoying learning about all the different schools," he commented. "I don't care if I stay close to home or not. I can go anywhere in the nation. I know I can play anywhere. I'm just looking for a good environment where I can fit in with the players and coaches."

As a junior Green registered four interceptions, 15 pass break-ups, and 25 tackles. "I consider myself a very good cover corner," he said of his skills. "I think I can cover anybody in the nation. I'm working on my backpedaling and keeping my feet on the ground when I cover." He added that he tried to model his game after Deion Sanders.

Green stated that he's qualified academically. With the plethora of offers he has already received he's isn't ready to declare his intentions until much later this year. "I'm gonna wait it out and go through the whole process, soak it all in and see what everyone has to offer. I don't know what schools I'm gonna visit officially, but I want to make a decision after I take all my visits."
