Miller Leaves ASU's Staff, Joins Ohio St.

As reported first on DevilsDigest.com assistant basketball coach Archie Miller will leave the Sun Devils staff and join Ohio State. Arizona State Director of Basketball Operations Scott Pera is poised to replace Miller. Official announcements are expected to come next week.

Miller was a four-year lettermen under Arizona State first-year Head Coach Herb Sendek at North Carolina State from 1998-2002. After his playing days were over, he served as an intern for the Wolfpack in 2002-03, and began his coaching career as an assistant with Western Kentucky the following year. In 2004-05 he returned to the Wolfpack and served as the Director of Basketball Operations. In the 2005-06 season he resumed his coaching career, this time joining Sendek's staff in their last season in Raleigh, before following his mentor to Tempe in April of last year.

Scott Pera (pictured) is all but a certainty to replace Miller on the Sun Devil staff. Pera is an accomplished high school coach who led Artesia (Lakewood, Calif.) to a state title in the 2005-06 season. His arrival last spring in Tempe was key in landing his former Artesia standout and McDonald's All-American James Harden at ASU, as well as Derek Glasser. Harden is the jewel crown of ASU's 2007 recruiting class ranked 15th in the nation by Scout.com. Pera also coached Celona High to a state title in Pennsylvania.

There hasn't been a decision yet on who will replace Pera as Director of Basketball Operations.
