Togiai Pulls the Trigger

Defensive tackle Zeb Togiai from Desert Vista HS (Phoenix, AZ) informs Scout.com of his commitment...

Last week Arizona State offered defensive tackle Zeb Togiai from Desert Vista HS and it didn't take long for Zeb to make his commitment to ASU.

Scout.com had a brief conversation shortly after the 6-3 260 pounder committed.

So why ASU?

"I want to be part of the family. I love Coach Stretz, he knows what he is teaching. I want to be taught by him."

When did you do it?

"A couple of hours ago to Coach Erickson. He was really excited so was Coach Stretz."

Are you relieved?

"Yes sir. Now I can concentrate on the season and on my grades."

In a previous interview with Zeb, he said that he received a 3.0 last semester and has raised his core GPA to between 2.2 and 2.3. He is still trying to raise that and will re-take some classes to do so. He is also working very hard in the weight room. He has recently maxed out at 330 pounds in the bench press. Zeb notes, "I have to give it to Coach C (Desert Vista weight training coach)."

Did teammate Steven Figueroa's commitment play a factor?

"I like that he is going but it wasn't a real factor. It depended on the major." Togiai plans to major in business and said that that was improtant. He adds, "ASU has one of the top business classes in the nation."
