Las Vegas CB Commits to ASU

Team camps serve various purposes, but first and foremost they are a valuable recruiting tool. Case in point, Arizona State's team camp in early June planted strong seeds of impression with Bishop Gorman (Nev.) standout Josh Jordan. On Monday afternoon, those seeds came to fruition as the cornerback gave his verbal commitment to the Sun Devils.

"That camp did a lot for me," said the 5-10 170 Josh Jordan. "I didn't know about Arizona State before I went up to the camp, and I was really surprised at what I saw – it was awesome. I liked everything about the school…I called Coach Erickson today and I told him I'm committing. He was very excited and I was very excited to be a Sun Devil."

The cornerback noted that ASU offered him shortly after the camp, and the impression the coaches made on him stirred him for weeks now towards the maroon and gold. "I love the honesty and the integrity of the coaches," he explained. "They never pushed me off to the side, and always answered any question I have. I have a great relationship with (ASU's cornerbacks coach) Coach Simmons and I'm happy that I'm gonna play for him…everything is just the prefect situation for me. It's close to home and obviously the weather isn't a factor coming from Las Vegas."

As a junior Jordan collected 58 tackles, five interceptions, four forced fumbles, four recovered fumbles and three tackles for loss. "I'm a very physical corner who plays good press coverage and man-to-man," he said of his skills. "I need to get better at reading routes." Jordan was also offered by Oregon, Stanford, UNLV, Nevada and San Diego State.

Jordan reports a GPA of 3.1 and hasn't taken any college entrance exams yet.
