Sun Devils Top Favorites List for Bass

Corona (Calif.) Centennial running back Ryan Bass has no shortage of scholarships from very solid programs across the country. The 5-10 185 running back does put one school above the rest, and he told Devils Digest why he favors the maroon and gold.

"Arizona State is recruiting me hard and they're my top school right now," said Ryan Bass. "Coach Lubick is recruiting me and they offered me a scholarship back in April. It's a great location and it's in the Pac-10. I definitely wanna visit them during the season."

Minnesota, Arizona, Washington, Washington State, Iowa, Nebraska, Louisville, Ole Miss, and San Diego State are some of his other offers. "I prefer to stay in the Pac-10 and close to home," said Bass concerning the distance factor. He added that San Diego State was the only school he visited unofficially, and he has no plans to take any other visits until he starts going on official trips. He does already have one trip lined up to Minnesota.

Bass Earned First Team All-CIF honors and all-state underclass honors after rushing for 2,351 yards on 294 carries and scoring 36 touchdowns during his junior year He benches 325 pounds, squats 445 and power cleans 295. He rushed for 2,137 yards on 255 carries (8.38 yards a carry) as a sophomore in 2005 and scored 34 touchdowns. "My speed and quickness are things I do well," he said of skills. "I still need to work on my pass blocking."

The four-star prospect admitted that the recruiting process certainly has had its hectic moments, along with some enjoyable ones. "A lot of people want to already choose the college for you," he stated. "My brothers and my dad will probably have the biggest influence on my decision…they think Arizona State is the best offer I have on the west coast and they really like the school."

Bass would like to give his pledge only after he takes some official visits. When asked what he'll look for when choosing a school, he said: "Good coaches, good program, school location…just how I feel fitting in with the team."

The running back reports a 2.6 core GPA and will take the SAT in October.
