Las Vegas DT Eyeing Future Visit to ASU

After registering 90 tackles and 11 sacks in his junior season, the Sun Devils were just one of several schools to offer four-star defensive tackle Lawrence Guy. It appears that ASU's recruiting efforts weren't in vain; as Guy told Devils Digest that his planned official visit to Tempe may be the last one he takes before he makes a decision.

"Arizona State offered me three months ago," said the 6-5 250 Lawrence Guy. "Coach Cozzetto is recruiting me. I didn't get a chance to visit them yet, but I like the program. They're a good team that plays in the Pac-10 and that is close to home."

Despite a stellar junior campaign, Guy is still surprised by the amount of recruiting attention and offers he has received. Oklahoma, Tennessee, Michigan, Arizona, Oregon and Oregon State are just some of the schools pursuing him. "Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arizona State, Oregon and Arizona are my top five," Guy stated. "I only visited Oklahoma and Oregon unofficially. Right now I just plan to officially visit Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Arizona State," Guy stated. "I want to make my decision three, four weeks into my season. Arizona State will be my third visit. I don't know when it will be because I'm still setting up my Oklahoma and Tennessee visits."

Guy, who earned Nevada all-state honors, considers himself a good pass rusher that needs to improve his hand placement. Overall, he's looking for a school where he can experience growth and help the program reach new heights. "I'm looking for the best program and the best education, because I want to get my degree," he explained. "It doesn't matter to me if it's close to home or not. I want to go to a program that I know will grow to more than what they are right now."

The defensive tackle reports a 2.7 GPA and will take his SAT test in October.
