"Recruiting is going good with Arizona State," said the 6-5 290 Armond Armstead. "(running backs) Coach Jamie Christian is recruiting me and I like him. I really like the program, I like that it's in the Pac-10, and I want to visit the school and learn more about it…I'm waiting for summer school to end and I will visit them the next couple of weeks."
Oregon, Arizona, Washington, USC, and Texas A&M make up the rest the list of schools Armstead will pick from. "Distance doesn't matter to me," he claimed. "Wherever I'm comfortable with that's' where I'll play."
As a junior, Armstead tallied 79 tackles and five sacks from his defensive end spot. He benches 290 pounds, squats 390 and has a 30.5-inch vertical jump. He cites his athleticism as his prominent skill. "I can use my strength against someone smaller than me, or my speed against a bigger player," he noted. "But I can always get stronger and faster."
USC and Washington are the schools that Armstead has already paid a visit to. "I want to visit the rest of the six schools before July 30th, because that's when I plan to make my decision." he stated. "I'm looking to make my decision and end the (recruiting) process early."
The defensive tackle reports a 2.9 core GPA and a 1600 SAT score.
