Sampson Enjoys Visit to Sun Devils

Ever since his unofficial visit to Tempe back in June, Overland (Col.) standout Andrew Sampson has favored the maroon and gold. He said that notion didn't change following his official visit this past weekend to ASU, but was it enough for him to commit? Devils Digest caught up with the offensive lineman following his trip.

"It went well, I really like what I saw," said 6-5 280 Andrew Sampson. "I really liked how the players were so nice and laid back. I really could relate to them. That's probably the thing that impressed me the most." The lineman added that he was hosted by true freshman Mike Marcisz.

Sampson was naturally at Sun Devil stadium when Arizona State prevailed over Washington 44-20. He shared his impressions from this contest. "Well, the first half was kind of iffy," he said referring to the Sun Devils trailing at halftime. "But in the second half they weren't messing around. I liked how the offensive line gets showcased by this offense. They run the ball a lot, they pass – they're pretty balanced. I like their philosophy that losing isn't an option. They have a great O-Line coach (Gregg Smith) that has put a lot of O-linemen in the NFL. There's just a lot of upside being on an offensive line like this with that offense."

While he enjoyed his visit immensely, ASU was his first official visit. Thus, he would like to mull things over and take another official trip. Ironically that destination is the University of Washington. "I didn't plan to come this weekend to watch both those teams play," he stated. "I don't know when I'm gonna visit Washington, but it will probably be in December. I'm still considering Utah and Kansas, but I don't have anything scheduled with them." He added that he has no other teams he plans to potentially visit.
