Sampson Pledges to Sun Devils

Aurora Overland (Col.) offensive lineman Andrew Sampson has been favoring the Sun Devils for a while now. His official visit to Tempe a couple of weeks ago just re-affirmed that notion, but he was still debating between ASU and of its Pac-10 foes. Yesterday he decided that his first instinct was the correct one.

"I was talking to my family and we all agreed that this was the best place for me," said the 6-5 280 Andrew Sampson. "I had a great time there and everything just fell into place."

Sampson made the call to the ASU coaches on Saturday morning, but was only able to get a hold of the coaches following the 31-20 win over Cal last night. "That was a great game," he said of that contest. "It looked like lots of fun, just like the Washington win."

Speaking of Washington, that was the only other school in serous contention for the lineman's services. In fact the Huskies had an in-home visit with Sampson on Thursday night. "My commitment is solid," Sampson commented. "I'm done taking visits."

Sampson's high school is 5-4 on the year and will begin the state playoffs this weekend.

The Colorado lineman is ASU's 10th know commitment of the 2008 recruiting class.
