Crenshaw Duo Verbals to ASU

On Saturday night the ‘Crenshaw Five' arrived at Sun Devil stadium on an unofficial visit. They drove for about six hours from their L.A. home, and as it turns out it was one devil of a road trip. Cornerback Clint Floyd and wide receiver Kemonte Bateman were the only two players in that group who arrived with Sun Devil offers. They left Tempe today as the latest maroon and gold commitments.

"I knew I wanted to come to ASU for a while," said the 5-11 180 Clint Floyd. "I had a great time hanging out with players, seeing the school. It was a great game to watch. The defense shut them out in the second half."

Floyd gave his pledge to ASU's wide receivers coach Eric Yarber shortly after the 31-20 win over Cal. Arizona State was his lone offer since June, and Washington was the only other school joining the as a suitor last month with an offer.

6-0 176 four-star recruit Kemonte Bateman was a UCLA commit up until his Tempe visit. His strong friendship with Floyd wasn't the only reason for his verbal commitment to the Sun Devils. "It was my first time out here," he said. "The atmosphere was great. Seeing a sold out stadium…that's how I imagine a college football game would look like. It was a great game and I like how Arizona State gets the wide receivers involved in the offense."

When asked if he would still have second thoughts about his pledge, considering that he just de-committed from the Bruins, Bateman replied: "Right now I consider it a solid. My parents know about it, but when we get home we'll talk about it. Right now I'm a Sun Devil with Clint."

Both Crenshaw standouts are ASU's 11th and 12th known commitments of the 2008 recruiting class. The tandem will visit Tempe officially after their season ends.
