Lady Devils Notch First Season Win

Jill Noe's 12 points led Arizona State to their first victory of the season Saturday in a 66-42 win over UC Santa Barbara.

The Devils dominated the first half after the Gauchos failed to make 7 of their first 8 shots and were only 7-for-25 during the first half.

Jill Noe displayed the explosiveness she has become known for in her six years at ASU and was a key factor in the game. With 6:12 left in the first half and the score only 21-15 she made two free throws and a three-pointer igniting a 13-0 run by the Devils which helped give the team the lead going into half-time at 37-19.

Noe finished the game with 12 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

With the support of their fans as they played in their first home game of the season the No. 15 Lady Devil's continued to triumph in the second half when they went on a 14-4 run squashing any hopes of a comeback by the Gauchos. ASU had their largest lead of the game when they were up by 28 points in the second half with 12:45 to go.

Commanding and quick point guard Briann January also finished the game with double digit scoring. January, who was named to the Pac-10's Preseason All Conference Team, had 11 points and five assists.

Stout rebounding allowed ASU to score an additional 27 points compared to UCSB's nine.

Arizona State was 0-1 going into Saturday's game after losing their season-opener to North Carolina in addition to two exhibition games. They will face off against Yale on Monday the 19th in their second home game of the season.
