Four-Star RB to Visit Sun Devils

Arizona State has been recruiting Aundre Dean before he committed to UCLA last April. He wasn't a viable prospect until he decided to re-open his recruitment last week. Many schools, including the Sun Devils, jumped into the pursuit of this skilled running back. Thus far, the efforts of the maroon and gold have paid off, as Dean will visit Tempe next month.

Devils Digest talked to 6-1 205 Aundre Dean a day after he had an in-home visit from ASU‘s Defensive Coordinator Craig Bray. "It was a pretty good visit," said Dean. "He was just talking to me about recruiting me to the school and showed me a DVD on how I would fit into their offense."

The Katy (Tex.) running back said that he hasn't had a chance to follow Arizona State this season, and the closest he came to watching a game this season was the aforementioned presentation by Bray. "It's a downhill offense that runs the ball a lot and I can see myself fitting in there," he commented.

Dean had an impressive junior season rushing for 2,111 yards with 27 touchdowns. He earned first team All-District, All-State honorable mention and first team All-Greater Houston. Through 13 games this season Dean has tallied 17 TD's and 1,803 yards (7.77 yards per carry). He also has one receiving touchdown.

"I'm a fast running back (reports a 40 time of 4.49) that can take it outside, but I'm strong enough to take inside too," he said of his skills. "I'm basically a downhill runner that makes plays…I need to work on everything – get bigger, stronger, faster – because it's a different game at the next level."

Two schools that he has penciled in for those visits are Louisville on Jan. 11th and ASU the following weekend. Katy High School is 13-0 and in the thick of a deep playoff run, which is why Dean isn't scheduling any December visits. "I need to take care of we need to take care of right now (the playoffs)," he explained.

He's not ruling out giving UCLA (who he committed to after de-committing from Texas A&M) another shot with him. "If they hire a coach and he runs an offense I can see myself playing in, I'll give them a chance," he noted. "The thing is I only have five official visits, so I have to see who I'm gonna visit."

The running back added that he had some talks with Kansas and Alabama ("They want to come for a home visit"), and Texas has been by to talk to his coaches. "I'm just waiting to see what happens with these other schools," he stated. "We'll see who I'm gonna visit."

Playing early, Academics and overall high comfort level are factors that will guide Dean when he decides to make his commitment. "I'm looking to make a decision before signing day, so I'll know on that day where I'm signing for sure," He commented. "I'm probably gonna take all my visits in January and make a decision in February before signing day."

Dean reported that he already got accepted into UCLA, and that he carries a 3.4 GPA and a 1690 SAT score.
