Lady Sun Devils Add JC All-American

Arizona State Head Coach Charli Turner Thorne announced today that Jazlyn Davis will join the team for the 2008-09 season. Davis comes to the Sun Devils from Mt. San Antonio College in Los Angeles where she led the Mounties to state championships in 2007 and 2008 while earning All-American honors.

Davis will be the fourth newcomer on next year's squad, joining fall signee's Kimberly Brandon, Alex Earl and Janae Fulcher.

"Jazlyn Davis is a dynamic player who will be an outstanding addition to our program," said Turner Thorne. "She is a strong and skilled player who can play all three guard positions. Besides being a proven scorer and great decision-maker, Jazlyn will bring great perimeter defense. She is intelligent and hardworking and she comes to us with a championship mentality. We are thrilled she chose to be a Sun Devil."

The 5-9 Davis averaged 20.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.0 steals per game this past season and was chosen as the State and South Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Davis will help the Devils cope with the loss of Reagan Pariseau and Jill Noe and provide much needed outside shooting as she shot 50.4 percent from the field and 44.1 percent from beyond the arc.

The MVP of the California State Championship Tournament, Davis scored a school record 44 points in the state tournament semifinal and had 18 games in which she scored at least 20 points.

Davis averaged 23.7 points per game as a senior at Toledo Bowsher High School in Ohio and is the career leader at Bowsher High School with 1,838 points.

Davis will come to ASU with two years of eligibility left and is expected to make an immediate impact in the Sun Devil backcourt that returns Dymond Simon and Briann January.
