JC Tight End is Latest Addition to 2008 Class

When some of the members of ASU's 2008 recruiting class arrive on campus the first week of June, there will be a new face who didn't sign with the rest of his teammates in February. His name is Stanley Malamala, a junior college tight end from Golden West (Calif.) College. Malamala was all set to sign with Oregon, but a recent trip to Tempe changed his mind.

"Arizona State has been recruiting me for a few weeks," said the 6-3 260 tight end. "I visited them on Tuesday and I liked everything on my visit. I think I fit better in their offense than Oregon's."

The Sun Devils have been recruiting Stanley Malamala for a few weeks now. He was scheduled to visit Texas A&M but canceled that trip since he signed and faxed his paperwork with ASU this morning.

Malamala played in six games for the 2-8 Rustlers, and caught 16 passes for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In 2007 he was selected second team in the American Division of the Mission Conference.

The tight end hails from Lahaina Luna High School in Maui, and is a three-for-two player in terms of eligibility.
