Coast to Coast Attention for Daniels

Even after he re-classified from a 2010 to 2011 prospect, recruiting hasn't slowed down for DeAndre Daniels and covers one end of the nation to the other. Devils Digest talked to the Taft (Calif.) High School forward after his trip to Arizona State that ended today.

The 6-9 183 DeAndre Daniels, moved to Southern California from Slidell, Louisiana last year, and played at the at the Renaissance Academy in La Canada where he averaged 10.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg. He moved to Nashville for a short time, just to come back to Southern California as he prepares to play for Taft High School in Woodland Hills.

Due to an academic snafu is some classes he previously took, the forward is now considered a 2011 recruit. Daniels played this past season for the Team Chandler AAU club, and this year he will join the Double Pump squad.

"I liked Arizona State," said Daniels of his visit. "I didn't know it would that nice out there. I really liked the coaching staff and the new basketball facility they're gonna build there. They showed us around the locker room and campus – it was all very nice. I really liked the area."

"I think I would fit real well at Arizona State because they run up and down the floor, and they let their big guys come out and shoot. They're a good basketball team."

Daniels indicated that he's been recruited by ASU's assistant coach Scott Pera for about two months now. Tennessee, Georgetown, Memphis, Wake Forest, UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, Utah, Purdue and UNLV are other programs that are pursuing him.

"I've been offered by UNLV, Purdue, USC, and Rhode Island," said Daniels. "I don't have a top five list."

Currently, Daniels has no plans for other out of state visits, and would like to explore other schools before making a decision.
