Sutton Impressed with Sun Devils After Visit

It wasn't the first time that Will Sutton had visited ASU. Yet, the Corona Centennial defensive tackle still enjoyed his official trip to Tempe. Devils Digest talked to Sutton about his visit and his recruitment in general.

"I liked everything about this trip," said Sutton. "It was really nice. This was the first time I was really able to talk to the coaches and players here. It was real interesting how the school supports the player academics.

"It was also real cool hanging out with the players."

Naturally, the 6-1 260 Corona Centennial standout hung out quite a bit with the trio of his former high school teammates and current Sun Devils Shelly Lyons, Brandon Magee and Ryan Bass.

"I'm closer to Shelly and Brandon because they're defense guys," said Sutton. "Playing again with them again would probably be something I would consider." The defensive tackle is also friends with his former quarterback, Matt Scott, who plays for Arizona.

Sutton was offered by Arizona State on October 19th. This past weekend was his first official visit taken, and he plans to trip to three of his other suitors which have offered as well: Arizona, Nebraska, and Fresno State.

"I don't know if I'll make my decision before I take all the four visits or not," said Sutton. "But I think I do want to take all my visits first." He added that that one or more of those visits would take place in January.

The defensive tackle also has offers from San Diego State, UNLV, Nevada, Colorado State and Fresno State.

So far in 2008 Will Sutton has collected 67 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two blocked punts and a fumble recovery for the 10-0 Huskies. "I'm good both against the run and pass," commented Sutton on his skills. "I know I need to get stronger."

Sutton carries a 2.8 GPA and will retake the SAT in December.

Corona Centennial opens the playoffs against Yucaipa this weekend.
