On a record setting night by the ASU's defense, several Sun Devil newcomers made contributions in ASU's 34-9 win over UCLA.
Cornerback Terell Carr
continued his solid play by notching eight stops, which tied Troy Nolan
and Travis Goethel
for second-most on defense. Fellow junior college transfer Pierre Singfield
added one assisted tackle for a loss. Freshman Josh Jordan
had one solo tackle.
Standout defensive tackle Lawrence Guy had another memorable outing. The true freshman compiled 5 total tackles, including two for a loss. Guy also notched one of the defense's five sacks against the Bruins. Defensive ends Jamaar Jarrett and James Brooks also got in on the action. Jarrett finished with two assisted stops while Brooks had a pass break-up.
Oliver Aaron, a redshirt freshman linebacker, added three tackles to his season-total of seven. Shelly Lyons collected three stops as well.
On offense ASU tailback Ryan Bass carried the ball once for a 1-yard loss.
