Defensive Tackle Verbals to Sun Devils

After an in-home visit last week from the Sun Devils coaches, Will Sutton decided to end his recruitment and pledge to the maroon and gold on Sunday night. Devils Digest talked to the Corona (Calif.) Centennial standout following his decision.

"Coach Lubick and Coach Stretz were at my house last Tuesday," said the 6-1 260 Will Sutton. "They just blew me away with their academic setup. I need to do some work in class to get qualified for college and they showed me the plan on how to do that.

"That was it right there for me."

Naturally joining his ex-high school teammates at ASU, Shelly Lyons, Brandon Magee and Ryan Bass was very attractive to him as well. "It's cool going to a place where you already know the players," explained Sutton. "I like the other players too, coaches…everyone is just real nice and that helps out a lot."

Sutton indicated that he will take the SAT test in January and will need to raise his score to 840 to qualify.

Sutton has collected 86 tackles and 7.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and three blocked punts for the Huskies thus far. Centennial brings their undefeated 14-0 record this Saturday as they play Concord De La Salle in a rematch of the 2007 Division I CIF Bowl. The Huskies will have revenge on their minds as they lost last year's contest 37-31.

Sutton chose ASU over its archrival Arizona. The defensive tackle had offers also from Nebraska and Fresno State among others.
