The Sun Devils nearly ended their season with what would have been the biggest upset of the bowl season – a win against Kansas State. Here are the contributions of the first year players for ASU in the Holiday Bowl.

On offense, Hakim Hill had a decent game, rushing the ball 11 times for 39 yards, including a nine-yard touchdown run. He also had one catch for 15 yards. True freshman wide receiver Derek Hagan continued to contribute with two catches for 19 yards. Hagen's fellow receiving mate, Matt Miller had a catch that resulted in a four-yard gain. Tim Fa'aita started at left guard, and Chaz White started at right tackle..

Defensively, True freshman Jamar Williams had five tackles, while Juco transfer Shane Jones ended his season with four tackles against the Wildcats. The secondary trio of Brett Hudson, Josh Golden, and Matt Fawley had three, two, and one tackle respectively. Hudson also had a fumble recovery.

On special teams, punter Tim Parker had a nice outing, pinning Kansas State back a few times. He punted the ball seven times for an average of 39.4 yards per kick. Josh Golden had five kick returns for an average of 22.8 yards.
