Rudd Pledges to Sun Devils

6-8 forward Victor Rudd has committed to ASU and will fax his letter of intent to the maroon and gold this evening. Devils Digest talked to the newest member of the 2009 class shortly after his decision.

"It just came down to what was right for me," said Victor Rudd who was recruited by ASU assistant head coach Scott Pera. "It was between Arizona State and Arizona and I believe that it (ASU) is the right place for me. I think I can really help them up front."

Rudd added that he hasn't visited either of the Arizona schools, nor any of his other suitors that offered him such as Gonzaga, Marquette and UNLV.

The forward is a three-star recruit who is ranked as the 27th best small forward nationally by Scout.com. Rudd is an athletic forward who can score from long range, but also at the rim.

"I have great intensity on defense and in rebounding," Rudd noted. "I take a lot of pride in my defense. On offense I can get to the basket whenever I like. I have a nice jump shot and I'm working on dribble pull-ups. I'm a good passer too.

"I think I play well at both ends of the court."

Rudd stated that he averaged 16 points and eight rebounds a game at Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep.

The forward indicated that he achieved a high enough of a college entrance exam test score to academically qualify, and just needs to pass all his remaining courses.

Rudd is the fourth signee of ASU's 2009 recruiting class.
