Offense Scores Three TD's in First Scrimmage

Most of the talk thus far in the Sun Devils' fall camp surrounded the defense's superiority over the offense. Therefore, it the players in maroon, especially those on the first team, must feel a sense of redemption today as they tallied a trio of touchdowns in today's scrimmage.

Danny Sullivan started the game completing the first five of his passes and engineered two scoring drives. One drive was a 17-yard rushing touchdown by Dimitri Nance and another was a 3-yard fade route touchdown pass to Chris McGaha.

The senior signal caller finished the day completing 11-20 passes for 137 yards and yards.

Samson Szakacsy, and the second team offense for that matter, had a rough outing on Saturday morning. While the sophomore completed the longest pass of a day, a 49-yarder to Gerell Robinson, he also had two interceptions (caught by Keelan Johnson and Jarrell Holman), as he completed 10-14 passes for 104 yards.

Osweiler was 7-9 for 95 yards and led the last drive of the scrimmage which culminated with an 11-yard rushing TD by Jarrell Woods.

Nance had 16 yards on three carries, while Shaun DeWitty collected the same number of yards on six carries. Woods registered 13 yards on five carries.

Robinson paced all receivers with 86 yards on six catches. McGaha had three receptions for 53 yards. J.J. Holiday had one reception for 46 yards. Kerry Taylor had three receptions for 32 yards.

Thomas Weber was successful on his 47-yard attempt, but missed from 42. His backup Bobby Wenzig was good from 46 yards out.

Players that were held out of the scrimmage were Zach Schlink, Mike Marcisz, Stanley Malamala, Josh Jordan, Derrall Anderson, and Anthony Jones.

Shelly Lyons, Garth Gerhart, James Morrison, Vontaze Burfict, and Aaron Oliver didn't finish the scrimmage. The extent of those injuries are unknown at this time, although Oliver's injury seems to be the most serious of them all.
